This is what I am doing through all my life... Enjoying the little things, because I strongly believe that if one can not do that, he will not be able to appreciate anything, even a miracle. Wanting and demanding something more all along lies in our human nature, but all of us should stop sometimes (in this 'rat race') and notice the things we have already. We should appreciate them instead of thinking that 'it's not enough' and wanting more and more... Otherwise the state could be compared to a drug addiction, when one wants and desires something which, no matter in what amount he possesses, gives him no joy at all...
I love the concept of the photo. This little flower on your hand forces to think 'How much beautiful and priceless gifts do I have in my possession ?' All of us should appreciate these things instead of reaching for something ...which is out of reach.
Someone once said: “The most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched, they must be felt with the heart”. So lets leave all the material mess of the world and allow our hearts to feel that there are 'kindred souls' around us, not just unfamiliar people... That there is beauty present in our life every day, perhaps in leaves falling from the trees on our heads in autumn, which are colorful and please the eye...while most people find them annoying and unnecessary...
A little flower is not much... but if one fell on my hand while walking, it would be enough to make a smile appear on my face...
I really do enjoy this photo, and think it is a nice addition to your portfolio, but I can see that you as a photographer you have a good deal of technical skill, so please understand that I judged your submission at a higher standard than the novice photographer. That said my critique is as follows.
Below is the rationale behind my rating:
Vision: While I like how the photo came out, I think that the picture, while staged, seems candid. A duel sword which adds to the relate-ability of the photo but draws from the end production quality.
Originality: Following what I previously mentioned, I think that the photo seems too off-the-cuff and opportunistic. This photo is particularly well taken, but I feel this could be lost within the pantheon of macro captures.
Technique: I don't feel this particular shot could have been better executed. I really like how the flower is perfectly focused. The play with the depth of field works really nicely. I think the shapes and colors reflected the emotion in this piece.
Impact: The endearing quality of this photo is undeniable. The soft colors and focus really give a great deal of credit to your abilities. I'd really love to see this as a piece of a collective image(multiple photos composed as one image).
Thanks for sharing a great photo with the DA community.
